SWEA Seattle | Swedish Women's Educational Association

About SWEA

SWEA, Swedish Women's Educational Association, is a global non-profit organization for Swedish-speaking women who are, or have been, living abroad. Our goal is to promote Swedish language and culture and to establish a professional and social network around the globe that makes it easier to live abroad. SWEA supports education with scholarships and many projects with ties to Sweden.

SWEA's network is becoming an important resource for Swedish businesses with presence abroad, and we can support and welcome families moving to a new country. SWEA is one of the largest non-profit organizations outside of Sweden who is promoting Sweden and Swedish culture, and we contribute to strengthen connections between Sweden and other countries.

SWEA Seattle Chapter is part of SWEA International. Visit SWEA International's website.

SWEA Seattle is part of an international network of Swedish-speaking women. The Seattle chapter was founded in 1990 and has about 110 members today. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and professions and range in age from 18 to 80+.

As part of our fundraising, we organize events for our members about once per month. Several of our events celebrate our Swedish holidays and traditions, and others are networking opportunities or social events. Other ways we stay in touch is through this website and through our membership magazine, SWEA Bladet.
